Linda's Helpful Hints Spring 2007 Closet "Spring Cleaning" Instead of standing in front of a bulging closet, wailing that you’ve got nothing to wear, organize your wardrobe and create room to replenish with clothes for the new season. 1. Separate items into two bags: one for repair, one for Goodwill. 2. If you haven’t worn an item in a full season, toss it!
3. If you are saving it because you promise yourself you’ll fit into it “soon”, toss it! 4. If the item is pilled, threadbare, or stained beyond repair, toss it!
5. Make a pile of clothes to go to the tailors/cleaners—loose buttons, broken zippers etc.
6. If you really cannot decide, make a “maybe” pile, wait a day or so and then take another look with fresh eyes to determine the items’ fate.
Now that you’ve de-cluttered, it’s time to organize. Try to make a dressing room area: get a full length mirror, use shelving or plastic multi-tiered hangers for accessories (belts, scarves and bags), group items together (blouses, skirts, pants, and then group again by color.) Use shoetrees or clear, full-length over-the-door panels to get your footwear together.
| Seasonal Staples Now that you’ve cleared up some space in your closet, make sure you have the classic items that will take you seamlessly from one outfit to the next whether it’s Spring 2007 or 2017: • Short sleeve, crewneck T-shirts in white, black, yellow, beige and pink. • Shorts, Capri pants, mini skirts, and a strapless or halter dress in white. • Accessories: sunglasses and straw or leather bags in oversized tote and clutch sizes.
• Jack Rogers sandals paired with a straw hat and a navy, white or black cardigan creates an elegant, casual look.
• Pearl stud earrings tie any outfit together for a polished appearance.
| Get Hip to Spring 2007 Trends Now that you’ve cleaned up your act, make sure you don’t look like April’s Fool by getting onboard with the must-have looks of the season: • Dresses are the “it” item this Spring. Keep in mind, the classic “LBD” is becoming the “LWD” – Little White Dress – as the seasons change.
 • Must-have accessories include bangles and cuffs (Lucite is very chic), oversize bags in metallic tones, belts, ballet flats, espadrilles and wooden heels. • Metallics and bold jewel tones, especially yellows, will be hot this season. • While last season’s leggings are still showing up, they are giving way to lean, fitted pantsuits. • Trench coats have been updated with cropped bell-sleeves and come in knee and hip-length for an interesting twist to a Spring/Summer classic. • Florals are showing up on runways around the globe – but not the Hawaiian type! • Layering makes any outfit instantly up-to-the-minute: tulle over a T-shirt is especially stylish.
• There are two directions you can take your style this season: ultra feminine or streamlined and futuristic, but don’t try to wear one look from head to toe – remember to mix it up!
